i grew up first with actual floppies in my first pc at home and school and then later all 3.5 floppies (until CDs). Floppy just became the generic term for the magnetic disks - I think - software often just called them disks, so i think people just projected what they knew plus its all a:\ or d:\

Hey it worked, it got me to finally sign up, watch that. Watched Mentopolis. Now I watch a bunch of stuff and for reasons only @samreich.bsky.social knows I now pay more than I need to as well.

Its not a railroad, its a riparian eco-system with diversity that mostly follows a path with some forks and bends and lots of diversity but you never have to travel far from the waters edge.
