I got tired of baristas butchering my name (there are a lot of r's after all), so I've been using the name "bob" instead. it's not going too well...

nexus by yuval noah harari

I was worried this was gonna be a typical AI doomer argument, but was pleasantly surprised. I felt that most of the arguments in the book held water and it was an engaging read, if a bit drawn out.

mercy of the gods by james sa cory

this is the first book in a new series by the authors of the expanse. I felt like there were a lot of potential plot holes here, but it really depends on how the rest of the series unfolds. overall a solid first entry.

silo trilogy by @hughhowey.com

I watched the show (which covered the first half of the first book), and then decided to read the books. pretty fun read! though I think I liked the show more... curious how they're going to adapt the rest.

2024 book thread! (these weren't published in 2024, just my faves I read this year)

lightbringer by pierce brown

#6 in the red riding series. dark age (#5) was my least favorite, I thought pierce had grrm'ed himself into a corner, but I was happily proven wrong. lightbringer was a masterpiece.
