Anything and everything they can find an edge with - inefficient markets, horse racing tote rebates etc.. Google Zeljko Ranagojec and you’ll find a few articles on his origins and incredible mathematical prowess.

No shock that those two are involved. Still don’t see how they class it as illegal - it’s nothing that couldn’t be done manually, it’s just sped up by technology. And there was a big risk of multiple winners, meaning they’d lose out.

Didn’t realise it was Zeljko and Bernard involved but doesn’t surprise. Also don’t see why it could be deemed illegal. It’s nothing that anybody else couldn’t do, just accelerated by using technology. It didn’t block anyone else from winning, they’d have lost if there were multiple winners.

curious - when something like that happens so many years later, do you automatically think it'd be much better if you wrote it now (experience) or just a sense of pride about your 'back catalogue'?

very interesting. As someone who briefly worked in developing such farms a decade ago, I wonder what the impact of planning conditions is here. Growing taller hedgerows to hide them from the road etc.
