Burnt out former sales/customer service worker. Parent to two chaos magicians. Let’s unfuck what we can, while we still can.
Do you use headphones, Bluetooth, or onboard speaker (it still has one, right? )

It’s almost always norovirus. People regularly end up hospitalized with real flu. Obviously not the majority, but a significant enough number that it still worked as a comparison point for Covid of “x number of people die of flu each year” (45,185 in USA in 2023 for comparison)

I avoid ear pain by using around-the-head strap models. flew from Europe to California, only taking off when necessary, was reasonably comfortable.

Having spares is key for the long haul. Good fit is a must. Try before.

Look at SIP valves, can drink while wearing. They install in any mask.

Michigander friend made it for us using a tall sided sheet pan. 1.5-2” high sides. I know that using good/ sufficient cheese to get the fat up around the edges was part of it, but he may have also added some butter /oil at edges to help with the crisping of the crust in the distinctive way.

At our last apartment, our cat would stand on the tub and use the inner shower curtain like a rain jacket so she could drink water *running off your leg*

New low bed, just edged the corner in silicone at all three heights on the frame and drawer after the great toe-fracture that was the “children’s toy storage coffee table” that one got both us parents bad. took it to the dump iirc.

Only time I had a barber sculpt 10 weeks of growth, I had a looong talk with before them shape things in, with the understanding of minimal upkeep. I’ll have a chance to grow another beard if neutralizing vaccines for modern respiratory viruses. For now, perfecting my wetshaving and enjoying kn95’s

Good News: they won’t be crowded

Bad News: facilities are the first to go. you’re now dry camping/full on pack in/pack out. look at “rocket box toilet systems”. fully sealable, meant to be cleaned. Rafting trips use them.

Have you ever cleaned your port with Deoxit? I got a micro sample bottle years ago with some audio gear and it still amazes me. Lasts forever and works great. I think mines the “gold cleaner”.

I know this is shouting into the wind, but, I would actually consider using something that had advanced search functionality and *citations*. Harder to make than the people-pleaser but actually useful.

Maybe in a decade or so if we haven’t burned all the libraries to the ground in hubris.

Shit lIke this is what frustrates me to no end. Somewhere, there’s a perfectly useful graphic in a mood psychology textbook that the plagarismbot is referencing but goes for the rake stomp instead.
a red car is parked next to a trailer that says u-tow on it
Alt: a red car is parked next to a trailer that says u-tow on it. A person with red bushy hair is surrounded by 15 rakes in a semi circle. They walk from one to the next, hitting themselves in the face with each step.

We got a free one from the curb, and it’s a godsend for seriously “can’t lose” documents. Our ADHD household wouldn’t have kept such things in such good condition otherwise. Just a two drawer one does fine, and it’s not so big that it needs to be bolted to a wall etc.

This image has a very emotional smell to me - sawdust, 3-in-1 oil, and old plastic tool handles. helping my grandfather with tasks in the house or basement. the calmest, mildest voice saying, but not yelling, ”oh shit, oh damn” when things really went sideways. Thank you!

* Sterile * water, like previously boiled or bottled distilled to mix with the salt combo.

I hate single use stuff but the refill sachets of little pre-measured sodium bicarb+ nacl are quite good when you already feel that bad.

briefly warming in the microwave makes it less uncomfortable

High volume nasal irrigation with hypertonic (double salty solution ) works wonders for me, but you have to get used to the feeling. Squeeze bottle not netti. 1 in 5 times I get mild flashbacks to my worst ocean swimming experience… so your mileage may vary depending on your relationship w/ water.
