Seagull egg foraging on the Tanana. We are very lucky to fall under subsistence regulations that allow for harvesting some migratory bird eggs, including seagulls.

I've been watching her closely, wondering if she had a litter this spring. Her general behavior and time sitting in front of my cabin hadn't changed much so I started to assume she didn't have any kittens make it this year even though she was active during mating season. It seems she's over nursing.

The "bycatch" is insane.
here are the numbers for the Bering Sea and the Gulf of Alaska just for this year so far. That's probably more salmon than subsistence fisherman on my entire 600 mile river would catch for themselves in a normal year. Just trashed.
