Mostly drinking cocktails to try and forget the mess we’re all in.
Tried out pop-up bar in our local Fenwick’s. The Plum Old Fashioned is highly recommended.

Another advantage of shopping in independent shops: sometimes they have a dog. Met this excellent girl this afternoon.

Cheers! Appropriately given your travels, I have a French Rose (gin, cherry brandy, Lillet Blanc). Between seeing Operation Mincemeat and husband’s last speech therapy appointment, it’s been quite a good week. #ConfinedCocktails

Husband ‘graduated’ from (had his last appointment with) post op speech therapy today. While he doesn’t have the voice he did before, he has noticeably improved, so we’re raising a toast to that (and his speech therapists) with this Figroni (a Negroni made with Fig Leaf gin). It’s good!

And does Income Tax taste nice? It does do lots of good I suppose. Cheers anyway, I have a Normandie 75 (replaced gin and champagne with calvados and sparkling cider), from my new cocktail book. #ConfinedCocktails

Cheers and hope you make it home without further incident… I have an Ernest & Rita, delicious if perhaps not seasonally appropriate! #ConfinedCocktails

It’s Friday. It’s time for a drink. This is a Lychee Martini, and it is good.
November 7, 2025 at 6:44 PM
Cheers! I have a Negroni Rosa, before some slightly experimental cooking - the experiment being if the husband can eat it. #ConfinedCocktails

A Santana to start the weekend (tequila, Amaro Santoni, bianco vermouth).

Please admire my focaccia (pretty pleased with this, considering the yeast was more than a year out of date… #ArchivedIngredients

No cocktail, in anticipation of a cheese and wine tasting in a bit - so here is a photo of the cheese instead. We’ve been out two evenings this week (to excellent things both times), which is the most we’ve done in some time! #ConfinedCocktails

Finished this the other day. Enjoyed painting all the blues, very soothing.

Just back from a very interesting talk by Andrew Graham-Dixon on his new interpretation of Vermeer, which I like. Now drinking this Negrino (Sloe gin, fino sherry, gentian liqueur) which I also like.

This was brilliant! With a full orchestra, very rare in regional touring these days.

Here is this afternoon’s Sour Cherry Negroni - I have just finished a tiny Anomaly (Mezcal, sherry, banana liqueur) but completely forgot to take a photo of it… #ConfinedCocktails

A Pinky Negroni to start the weekend. Was trying to match the nails to the roses - not a bad attempt but not quite!

Saw this last night and really enjoyed it, even as a non football fan. Very clever storytelling and staging.

A theme emerging in recent cook book purchases.

A Milady’s Martini, one of my favourite variants (gin, rose vermouth, fino, splash of amaro). Been quite an unconfined week, which is nice. #ConfinedCocktails
