A cedar tree from Chumatlán became TOTEM LATAMAT, a 4.5m messenger carved by Totonac artist Jun Tiburcio. It travelled 9000km to COP26 and now rests at The Crichton in #Dumfries. www.youtube.com/watch?v=gebk...

SUPPLIANTS OF SYRIA, a bold new multimedia performance from Border Crossings, comes to Hoxton Hall 3–8 March 2026.
Created with Syrian refugee women in Turkey, it blends live performance, movement and filmed testimonies to share stories rarely heard.

POCAHONTAS AND AFTER (2017) reimagined Native American representation through photography, with self-portraits by volunteers, schools & refugees. In 2018 it was honoured with a British Library Teaching & Learning Award

MORE THAN WORDS (2017-20) was an Erasmus+ collaboration across 6 countries, leading to a poetic, provocative film exploring what it means to be an outsider in Europe. Blending theatre, clowning, music and dance it pushed the boundaries of storytelling.

In 2017 ORIGINS Festival closed with an unforgettable performance from Inuk throat-singer Tanya Tagaq who reimagined Robert Flaherty’s problematic 1922 film Nanook of the North with a live improvised soundtrack, a breathtaking act of cultural reappropriation. #BorderCrossings30

It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Uncle #NoelTovey AM, an extraordinary performer, director and writer whose life and career were nothing short of inspiring. Noel was the first Indigenous Australian ballet dancer. We were privileged with his performance at ORIGINS in 2011.

Created by Totonac artist Jun Tiburcio, Totem Latamat travelled to the UK for COP26 in 2021 as a powerful messenger for climate justice, carrying Indigenous perspectives on balance, respect, and the interconnectedness of all life. The totem was laid to rest at The Crichton in #Dumfries.
