Same thing happened to my little dog two weeks ago. Came up in 2 hours. Vet investigated, $1200 later and no clue, antibiotics didn’t help at all after three days, Manuka honey rubbed into the tiny wound shifted it in 24 hours. It sounds like your vet is more onto it but worth keeping in mind.
