Yeah I think you're right about all this. I'll just say I think the show is correct to spend all its time on carol, an untalented person who was disconnected for years before the pluribus, acting as the last champion of the independent human spirit is a better use of time than big scale problems

Lol I'm not caught up but this sounds like what I'm talking about. The show is focused on carol, and her own losses fuel her actions as much as her wish to liberate the pluribus ppl and more than the mass casualties

The attention to detail is a big part of what makes severance great and a lot of shows are awful for failing in that vein. I'd say pluribus is clearly not slop and feels confident bc it is not interested in details. They're just not important to our selfish main character.

This contrast is great framing for why I'd say pluribus deserves praise: it is focused only on one problem and doesn't get distracted by any world building. The origin of the virus doesn't matter after ep1. Even the mass casualties don't matter much after ep2.

For the longest time I thought it was just me with this habit, but I have seen pedestrians walk through crosswalks knowing that the driver barreling down on them is not paying attention. I walk with God I don't care if you're looking over there it's my crosswalk!!

The press release quotes a CDER deputy director of OND. If that's where the pilot was run, my guess would be summarizing recent literature relevant to a submission? It's not my field though.
