Viktor thinks he’s going a little bit insane, to be quite and very honest. It’s late, and they’ve been in the warehouse for an unsure amount of hours, and Jayce has touched him forty-two times. Thirty, if the accidents don’t count. A hand on the shoulder while Jayce rambles, a little too close to Viktor’s neck for his pulse to be neutral about it. An exchanging brush of the fingers. A nudge of the arm. And as the hour got later: A ruffle of Viktor’s hair with a chalk- and dust-covered hand. A laugh from Jayce’s mouth and a thumb smudging soot over Viktor’s cheek. An excited grab of both of Viktor’s shoulders as a revelation dawns on Jayce’s embering eyes. At that point Viktor suggests they open the wine, in part because he doesn’t think he’s going to be able to handle the rest of the night sober and in part to honor the memory of their first attempt at stabilizing Hextech. Jayce takes the first sip. Viktor's done far more unhygienic things, but he feels like a born and bred Piltie when he stares at the shine of Jayce's spit on the rim of the bottle before he tips his head back to swallow his own mouthful. Viktor rotates the coin of metal between his fingers to get the proper angle for carving the next rune stroke and very chivalrously does not look up when he hears the resuming clang of hammer against metal.
