As a resident of Charlottesville this has all made me very happy. Those two statues were there for one purpose, to intimidate. Loving the racist tears.

This scenario is a major part of the basis for the creation of emergency management in the United States, & growing out of the Depression in the 30s, sparked its “official” creation through the EOP Office for Emergency Management in 1940.

Seeing the chatter on the new FEMA Independence Act let me bang this drum as loud as I can EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT IS NOT SYNONYMOUS WITH DISASTER RELIEF (which is primarily a state responsibility anyway).
