150 years ago today, June 1, 1875:

The Kingston Railroad Station opened in South Kingston, Rhode Island. The Late Victorian/Stick-Eastlake style building was saved and restored with the help of a friends group formed in 1973. The historic depot serves today as a stop on Amtrak's Northeast Corridor.

The beauty of so much snow along Lake Superior in 2024-25 is the many falls in Upper Michigan are at full power with all the melt. This was Eagle River Falls in Keweenaw County, Michigan, in April 2022. Go to the UP in April to check them out. Not many tourists, and no mosquitos and black flies!

This 1782 Spanish Silver real could technically be pirate treasure. There were still pirates until the 1830s. This coin was minted in Mexico City, which was the capital of what was then New Spain. This was 28 years before the war for Mexican independence from Spain would begin.
