Dang! He was a "god" to many when I was studying linguistics 50 years ago. And I've admired him ever since. But now? The stain of patriarchy touches so many more men (and women) than we realize.

Great review of the '70s, a decade I remember living thru, both in terms of progress made and the pushback by the Moral Majority and others. It took Reagan getting elected in '80 for me to finally let go of smoking weed. As a Federal gov't employee, I didn't want to get caught. Thanks for sharing.
