Gamble
Felix Francis

A financial advisor loses a work colleague and friend, and sets out the uncover the truth behind the death.

An easy ish read and exciting enough, bit lacks the pizzazz of his father.

Down Cemetery Road
Mick Herron

A house explodes and a girl goes missing.
Sarah Tucker sets out to find her, and gets drawn into a web of lies and deceit.

Well written, but a bit brutal for my tastes.

DISCRETION ADVISED

The Salt Path
(Raynor Winn)

Beautifully written memoir of the fight against loss.
The story of a couple who lose everything so decide to walk....and walk.....and walk around the South West Coast Path.

We are introduced to the scenery, the hardships and the characters along the way.

They Thought I Was Dead
(Peter James)

The 20th in the 'Roy Grace' series, it tells the Who? Where? What? and Why? of the disappearance of Roy's wife Sandy.

Ties up loose ends, but not always believably.
Her becoming wealthy was particularly unlikely.
Grim in places, liberating in others.
