Maybe it’s just me, but “unlikable” isn’t a flaw in a main character. I don’t read books to make friends. Some of the most compelling narratives revolve around difficult, even repellent people. Where do you draw the line?

I actually wish more fantasy books avoided maps. I know they're classic, but sometimes they give away plot scope or travel paths before I even start chapter one. Anyone else feel this way, or do you love poring over them first?
