What’s interesting about the response to the email: at the FBI, Patel, a hard-right Trump appointee and ally of Bannon, said no dice. Same at State but response came from Tibor Nagy, a moderate Trump appointee who was a career diplomat.

Just like the stimmy checks, Trump had to be our savior, to show his “love” for us with TikTok. But it is now a tool to make us obey. He will take away TT if he doesn’t like what we do. Yesterday felt icky, precisely because our community was violated to become a tool of manipulation.

Even if TikTok is saved, at what cost? What are the strings? Will we be throttled, censored, or banned for our content? I don’t know if I can go back, but if I do it will be cautiously.

Never forget, TikTok’s “threat to National Security” was not that China had access to our data; the threat was the modern town square, the exposure of the corrupt and greedy political class, and exposing the false propaganda spread by legacy media.
