Isn't it mathematically identical, but the negative income tax is easier to commit fraud with?

Mild tariffs are often popular electoral chum. But Trump seems to have an eccentric obsession with using them as a panacea

I think he accidentally lied by misphrasing his sentence. The link says greater percentage of Republicans than Democrats voted for the CRA. I think obviously he isn't trying to intentionally mislead because his entire following is point is that Reps *aren't* inheritors of the civil rights movement.

I thought this was a great piece by Hanania about how conservatives watch/listen to politics, while liberals read much more, and how that shapes political dynamics. Should such pieces be ignored because he's racist?

Liberals Read, Conservatives Watch TV
Explaining why Trump emerged on the right, why only liberals debate filibuster reform, how anti-vax became a partisan issue, how David Shor is half right, "Dems are the real racists" and much else.

Plus it made a point that anti-lockdown political energy could still have helped Republicans because a small % of voters permamently radicalizing against the left over lockdowns can have bigger consequences than a majority of voters mildly supporting lockdowns during the covid era

It was mostly just what the quote began. The majority of voters were consistently pro-lockdowns and other anti-covid authoritarianism as per many polls. Politicians/judges could've expanded measures and kept them around longer.

I think community can be very special and supplement rarity. Anyone can get music on Spotify, but only you and a few locals can attend your friend Alexander's choir. Anyone can afford a Michelin restaurant, but only cooking together with friends is unique

I think part of it is that winning, and even losing, does generate emotions. Stuff is actually happening, even if you're just slowly losing money. I sometimes get addicted to online competitive games in a way I never do with single player games, because against real people, it is *real*

The problem is median voter theorem. The median democrat is a good distance away from the median American. Primaries distort one of the biggest advantages of FPTP.

There is a very disproportionate amount of people who would commit suicide cafe bombings against Israel if let in.

"Racist" is underspecified, there's a wide range of personalities that might be implied by it

Years ago when reddit gold existed, I felt like that was the best way to find hidden deep gems. Lowbrow stuff would get the most upvotes, but the more niche but brilliant stuff would be given gold.

I think for this reason you should try not to base your opinions off your knowledge of the facts. You will never know enough facts to have an adequate opinion, unless you're in the top 0.1% of experts on the topic. Instead you should look into what experts believe, how credible they are, etc.

You might also have a richer audience. I'd bet your comics are disproportionately enjoyed by college grads with disposable income. As oppossed to artists who appeal to teenagers or retirees.

What's best for the group is not what's best for the individual. By purity testing, the individual gets to virtue signal and demonstrate to all their friends how righteous they are. That it hurts the movement, which is often nebulous and without clear leadership, has no personal consequences

I think almost everyone does very little self study. Having someone enforce deadlines and assign tests makes studying orders of magnitude more effective.

I think lying strategically can often come back to bite you in the butt when people learn the lie then spread screenshots of it. Telling disadvantageous truths can do the reverse, as people learn to trust you're scrupulously honest, even on controversial, uncertain topics

Win the election? It means you're safe to move farther left. Lose the election? It means you can't play safe, you need to take a risk and move farther left.
