Getting lost in stories and spending my days drinking coffee and trying not to get my butt kicked by life. Books, villains, Reylo, and Nomae. 21+
I love this Nomae art @ineffapable.bsky.social drew for me!

"Noa knew it was a dream. Not because he was wearing the wings befitting the Master of Birds but because Mae stood before him. Her face gentler than he could ever imagine. And when his callused palm touched her cheek, it was warm.

Deep down I need more reylo shippers to watch Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes so they can ship Noa and Mae. Intergenerational conflict between their peoples. Betrayal. Reluctant allies to enemies to....? She's a human and he's an ape (yes an ape just trust me). The Romeo and Juliet of it all.

Not me making an underworld goddess connection between Severance and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes because of Dichen Lachman's characters Korina and Gemma. They're Kore and Persephone!

And to top it all off, here's a clip of an interview with Wes Ball where he talks about "Shakespearean stuff" for the sequel.

"But don't R&J die in the end?"

They do, but just like how The Lion King 2 and Wakanda Forever had different endings, it doesn't mean Noa and Mae have to die.

West Side Story, another R&J retelling, has Tony die, but not Maria.

This reminds me of when Caesar tells his son, "I always think ape better than human. I see now how much like them we are."
June 6, 2025 at 2:41 AM
I see Anaya being Mercutio.

Mercutio is Romeo's friend. He's very witty, making jokes all the time. (Seriously, read the play. He doesn't stop, lol) His death is what leads to Romeo killing Tybalt.

Anaya is definitely the jokester in his friend group. Poor Anaya, though

Friar Lawrence believes Romeo and Juliet's marriage will unite their Houses in the eyes of God and end the feud.

Caesar is pretty much God for the apes. Raka says since humans were important to Caesar, he must show compassion and try to teach them.
June 6, 2025 at 2:41 AM
Friar Lawrence is wise, optimistic, and religious.

We see this with Raka already. He is religious and is a follower of the Order of Caesar. He's also a little too optimistic, believing apes and humans once lived side by side, so that's why he wants to help them.

CHARACTERS

So Noa and Mae would be Romeo and Juliet for obvious reasons. Romeo and Juliet's deaths brought the feud to an end. Noa and Mae could bridge the gap between apes and humans and help achieve coexistence.

Now I want to talk about Raka!

He's Friar Lawrence

In the end, both pairs are able to bring the fighting between their people to a stop. The Outsiders are welcomed into Simba's pride, and the Wakandans and Talokanils stop fighting after seeing their leaders return together.
June 6, 2025 at 2:41 AM
There are losses on both sides. Kovu's brother is killed going after Simba. One of Namor's people is killed. Shuri's mother, Queen Ramonda, is killed by Namor's attack on Wakanda.

This escalates the situation. Things get worse.
June 6, 2025 at 2:41 AM
Namor and Shuri are also based on Persephone and Hades, who are a couple in Greek mythology. Hades kidnaps Persephone and brings her to the underworld. Namor kidnaps Shuri and takes her to his underwater kingdom.

So R&J, Hades and Persephone...they're based on romantic couples.
June 6, 2025 at 2:41 AM
The two heirs/rulers from both kingdoms meet, and they don't trust each other at first, but they start to have compassion for the other.

Kiara and Kovu fall in love. Namor and Shuri don't fall in love, but Shuri begins to show compassion after he shows her his kingdom.

The Lion King 2 and Wakanda Forever are loosely based on Romeo and Juliet. (WF is also based on Hades and Persephone)

Like the Montagues and Capulets, we got two rival kingdoms. The Pridelanders and the Outsiders. Wakanda and Talokan.

Then the rightful ruler comes back from the dead, challenges the usurper, and takes his rightful place upon the throne.

Now let's take a quick look at their sequels, hehe
June 6, 2025 at 2:41 AM
The rightful ruler spends time in exile, recovering from their wounds and trauma. They might even get a visit or recollection of their dead father.
June 6, 2025 at 2:41 AM
In DAWN, The Lion King, and Black Panther, a rightful king or heir is killed by an evil uncle, cousin, or family member. This always results in them falling off a very high cliff for some reason.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes Theory

If Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was based on Hamlet, then to keep the story feeling like Shakespeare, the KOTPOTA sequels could take inspiration from Romeo and Juliet.

Like???? He speaks Spanish. He is of Latino heritage. PLUS he can sing since he voiced Ernesto de la Cruz in Coco. Not that I expect Señor Armando to belt out a song in POTA, but it's the range that matters.

I've been watching the TV show Andor where there is an actor named Benjamin Bratt that plays Bail Organa, and I'm thinking he's my fancast for a reboot Señor Armando for Planet of the Apes until further notice, lol.

I noticed something about the final scene in KOTPOTA.

It's implied the satellites are from the Very Large Array (VLA) in New Mexico, a radio telescope that allows astronomers to see objects in space.

So both Noa and Mae end the movie with telescopes. I just think that's neat!

Have a headcanon that chimps in Planet of the Apes mourn the loss of the white tuft on baby chimp's butts just like how humans adore and miss the newborn scrunch or don't wanna cut off the children’s baby hair.

Anyway, if the universe won't give me an Oshamir kiss, then I'm manifesting a Ghoulcy and Nomae kiss 🙏

Found this cartoon by Cathy Wilcox and thought it was funny given my current Planet of the Apes obsession
