Gamer, book hoarder, Fantasy/Sci-Fi, Historical Fiction lover and in my spare time, I am an aye-aye.
Almost halfway through Empire of Silence by Christopher Ruocchio.

It's definitely Dune-esque. But I am enjoying Empire way more than I liked DUNE(I DNF DUNE)

I like the tenacity of the main character. But I also felt sorry for him because of his parents.

I am anxious to see where it's going.

Finished the Silverblood Promise.

It was okay.

Definitely some parts that felt Tamblyn and that I skipped over.

But I did like the relationship between Flea and Lukan. I loved Flea's attitude and her sassy replies to Lukan.

Still 3 stars.

Empire of Silence by Christopher Ruocchio is next.

Frog and Toad!!! You are part of some of my earliest reading memories.

Finished Empire of The Damned.

I am a sobbing, snotty, swearing mess.

It's three a.m. and I am not sure if I will actually be able to sleep after this.

As he says in his author notes "he doesn't believe in happy endings"

Definitely a five star read and in the rightful spot for favourite book.

Jay Kristoff just made me cry a snot festival

110 pages into Empire of The Damned....

I can not get over how fu*King fabulous this bl00dy book is.

Holy flipping cow!!
November 5, 2025 at 2:11 AM
@misterkristoff.bsky.social I started Empire of The Damned at 1 am while waiting for my watch to charge.

Next thing I know, it's 3am, the watch was charged, and I am suddenly aware that I will be very tired when I have to get up in a few hours.

Finished the Price of Power by Michael Michel.

It was good, the multi - character pov was a little hard to follow at times but that's more me than the book.

I giggled at a couple of parts and was surprised by a few parts as well.

All in all it's one I would recommend.

Onto Empire of The D*mned.

Making my way through the Price of Power...

There's more than a few editing errors and spelling errors which isn't a big deal for me but ones that an editor probably should have caught.

Overall I am enjoying it. It's a neat story and the world is interesting as well.

Blacktongue Thief is awesome!

Hilarious but also serious. It definitely earns the grimdark fantasy label.

Giants, goblins, mysterious creatures, things that live in the skin of people, giant attack birds, and even love.

Definitely a five star read.

Next up The Price of Power

I can say this here because I think it's vague enough...

I am very happy that the part of the Blacktongue Thief did not turn out the way I thought it was going to.

There was bad words being prepared.

Hey! Ontario!

I was very much liking the warmer weather.

Please come back. I don't want to turn on the heat.

It's two a.m. and I finished Priest of Bones by Peter McLean.

It's really good but definitely has some triggers.

Returning from war, to nothing, Tomas Piety rebuilds what he lost, often with brutal justice.

There were parts that made me sad, I laughed as well.

Next up the Blacktongue Thief.

You know when you can't sleep so you start doing weird things?

Wednesday night, by 3 am, I kept wondering what would happen if a Cyclops was gifted an eye that could see the future.

Well I gave up on Navola.

It just wasn't working for me.

I got to page 123 and I said out loud, oh, only page 123...

It was too much of this.."we saw flowers and dogs and pigs and chickens and horses and dogs"

Less of that and more story may have held my attention.

Trying Priest of Bones.

Finding Navola a little slow.

It's not that I am not enjoying it but there's definitely some repetition of description in a few places.

I am only on page 89 so perhaps I am not giving it a fair break.

So...

I ended up putting down The Song of the First Blade.

But it's weird because I was enjoying it.

The multiple character pov lost me a few times but left me interested in at least one character arc.

The interest in what was happening kept me going and likely will bring me back.

Navola next

Sitting outside with the doggo, a book and the smell of someone burning leaves is probably peak September in Ontario.

But, I really wish that this 20 degree temperature would hang around until Christmas, snow on Christmas Day and then go away again.

Because I hate winter.

Finished Rise of the Ranger.

I really enjoyed it.

The relationship between Asher and the people hired to capture him was pretty heartwarming especially as they started helping each other.

Knowing that he fought a lot of battles blindfolded was pretty cool too.

Up next Song of the First Blade !

Rise of the Ranger is quite good.

I am really enjoying the premise, and the action scenes are pretty good too.

Plus, how do you go wrong with dragons, elves, mages, and a dude who chooses to live a solitary life wanting to spare the people who were originally sent to abduct him.

Listening to Medieval Tavern music while reading Rise of the Ranger after a really garbage week is happiness.

Ranger is proving to stand up to the excellent reviews I have read.

2 am..

Trying to sob quietly because husband is asleep.

Reading the Bone Raiders by Jackson Ford.

Pick it up folks, it's amazing.

@realjacksonford.bsky.social

It's 2a.m, my husband is sound asleep and I am trying to sob quietly.

Because of page 364 of the Bone Raiders.

This is a fantastic book.

Okay I don't know if eleventy billion stars is allowed in a book review but I don't care.

Eleventy billion stars for the Empire of The Vampire by Jay Kristoff.

I was hooked from the first page.

Crying when your nose holes are clogged is not fun but it was worth it.

Up next The Bone Raiders
