Fun fact; our English understanding of empathy didn't come about until 1908 and had a different meaning. Before then sympathy was used similarly to our understanding today of empathy until about 1990. That's just a dive on the English translation not the original Greek word used.

The Republican Party is not prolife.

I'm much more critical of Republicans because they're the party claiming to represent the Christian faith.

I'm still a Christian in spite of my Christian Nationalist church training because God showed me that His word contradicts their teachings.

It's scary to see how Christian Nationalists are claiming empathy as a sin when the core of Christianity is God Himself demonstrating empathy by literally becoming like us.

The Maga want a fight with Democrats because that's how they win. But what they are poor at is justifying the consequences of their actions. Their voters need to experience their lack of empathy and to hear it. Democrats don't need to be silent, but they need to be on the ground.

Millennials really went from "Free the leash children!" to"Do you know how fast a toddler can run and pivot!?"

Today starts a season that reminds the Church of our need to daily repent of our sins. And the Church in the US have much to repent. We have sought kings because we do not believe in the power of King Jesus. We seek a more so called "masculine" gospel 🧵

Looking like we might need to brush up our funeral wear. I think the western world has become comfortable with funerals being rare. We forgot how terrible death is.

If I am more critical of the Republican Party its because its claiming to represent Christianity. The problem is Matthew 6:24 makes it clear no political party or power can ever represent Jesus and His kingdom.

Saying FAFO feels good but does no good. Being kind doesn't mean people aren't held accountable. Having compassion doesn't mean not challenging. It just keeps us from being hateful bitter people. It looks like "we wanted to spare you this grief" instead of "we told you so."

Both my grandma's are in their mid 90's and are thriving in their nursing homes. My parents (who did not vote for trump) both work full time and are close to retirement. But now they all face a uncertain future. The Republican Party has never been pro-life.

I wonder if we'll ever see male pastors switch to saying "the church needs to become more feminine" in response to the number of women leaving the church? Like when it was fewer men attending and they said the church wasn't masculine enough. As if that was ever the real problem.
