Second Bake ~

Much Better! Nice color on the crust, the crumb is more open. I even got an "ear" on this loaf. (Where the crust lifts and peels back a bit.) Most importantly we got to enjoy it!

First Bake ~​ The crust has a nice color and they look pretty good, albeit small, however this bake ...was a bust. The loaves are very dense and heavy with a closed crumb.

A bit of research tells me I may need to prolong the bulk fermentation time.

I'm trying again today,
Baking again tomorrow!

It's time! For nearly two months I have been cultivating my Sourdough Starter. "Catching Wild"🫙and watching her grow.

My aim was to wait until they were not just doubling consistently, but over doubling in less than 8 hours to ensure a strong and healthy leaven. We're there!

It's TIME TO BAKE! 👩‍🍳🍞

Still working on my Sourdough starter. 🫙🌾 She's been doubling consistently for a couple weeks but I want to get to a point of over doubling in less than 8 hours before I bake my first loaf. 🍞 I've incorporated whole wheat into the feeds and split my starter between two jars. Ophelia and Lucille.

Much to my surprise the theater we went to even had the Monkey popcorn tins! That is to say they had ONE left. Of course I got it! 🍿✨ He's crazy cool. 😎 The arms move up and down, so he CAN beat his drum but the key does not turn... for safety purposes, of course. 😉
