I start Swt Pot slips indoors at 85 degrees it will germinate. Set in bowl of water to see which end is roots and which end is vines. Sprouts in 7 days. Put upright in jar of water. When slips are 4-6 inches gently off tuber and put in water. Can grow 4 flushes. #Sweetpotato #slips #gardening

I also start lots of cuttings in water. Note the mislabeling on the plants in the photo. Snip off enough of the plant to have 2 leaves above water and at least 1 leaf node with leaf removed below water line and set in sunny window to root. #houseplants

#gardening6a #migardener #seeds I'm still waiting on my seed order... just for fun I've started 2 shoeboxes of #tomatoes and so far #SuttonsBestofAll and #TopSirloin have sprouted. Now have to steal back my grow lamps!!

Yes, heirloom addict here....I can get 40 inground. It's my body that wears out, not my space. But I have over 900 varieties and I start 150 or so varieties and up pot them...every seedling that sprouts!!!

Cold and snowy out there. (I live on a farm and do barn chores several times a day) My chickens are free ranging. Their coop and run are 150 feet from the barn... So I'm finding small nests of 3 and 4 eggs in odd spots in the straw floored barn daily!!! Makes total sense, right? Unless fairies did!

Who else couldn't resist while the ground is covered in snow and it's only Jan 12th? I will admit I have 20 patio tomato seeds sown and I'm eyeing a whole shoebox and contemplating what to sow next. Probably peppers...zone 6a #seedstarting #garden #vegetables #tomatoes #peppers

It's another snow day. Snow on the ground, another 4 inches forecast in the next 12 hours...I'll be out tramping around in it servicing the livestock...Until midnight usually. Y'all stay warm and dry!!

In Ohio it's been a tradition for the last couple decades to drop Wiley Walleye, an 18 footer, to ring in the New Year. Better than a ball any day...

It's birdie feeding season, folks. If you have seed or cracked corn, peanut butter, and saved pan drippings or rendered beef fat, pour it into a empty dairy carton until about 1/3 full. Set a hanger or tied loop of rope into it and set in fridge to harden. Remove carton and hang outside
