I read the book earlier this year and I’ve thought about it often since. I think the impact would’ve been much less if the protagonist had been a man so I appreciate that the author made the choice she did. Fascinating read. And great review.

Forever Amber. I found it in my mother’s closet when I was ten and couldn’t stop reading it.

Oh my I see a few of my old favorites on your list. I don't think I'll ever forget Lori Lansen's The Girls which I read in 2009. The opening paragraphs have stayed with me as if I read them yesterday.

I loved these short stories. Her writing of course is just outstanding. I have her Collected Essays on my shelf and I'm thinking I'll try to get to that soon.

I loved The Wall and I'm not really a science fiction reader😊

I thought this was The Onion at first. Unbelievable but isn't it all unbelievable?

I just finished Sarton's journal Encore: the Eightieh Year where she was working to produce this very book. I hope to get to it at some point.

I have never doubted that it was staged. His being silent about it confirmed that.

I read it in 2013 at the rate of one book per month. One of the most rewarding reading experiences of my life. Just wonderful.

Snow days were a dime a dozen here in Buffalo when I was teaching so I have my fingers crossed for you. Also, you absolutely can't abandon Middlemarch.

Heh yes that would be a conversation for the ages. Of course so would probably any conversation with Babitz. Lol

I am more than halfway through Didion and Babitz and it is absolutely delightful

I've been listening to Lazy Mary non stop on Apple Music. Just so Italian and it reminds me of my childhood with my Italian aunts and uncles and cousins.

I underlined dozens of beautiful lines. Someone once asked me what I liked best about a book, plot or character and I said neither. It's got to have beautiful, lyrical writing🥰

I listened this afternoon and it was a terrific analysis
