Great review! Well argued and you resolve issues I've struggled with, thank you! The results where articulatory representations weaken the iconic effect were surprising. Do you think it's because the articulatory space as a whole doesn't map well to those domains (even if individual gestures do)?

Main difference with our maps is the base of the map is the phonological rather than the conceptual space, and we assume semantic extension occurs primarily via links mediated by iconicity & not just conceptual links. In support of this, the semantic networks we find differ from those of metaphor

Also dodgy that this table is only available in the supplementary material. In the main paper they just have a world map. I saw New Zealand and I assumed they used Maori. No, it was New Zealand English

English is in there 3/4 times, and they are counting Dutch twice separately for the Netherlands and Belgium! 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ Somebody please get these people a linguist
