That's a great idea :) I think we had tried to implement it a while ago, but ended up not doing it because it was more challenging than anticipated. We'll keep it in mind though and will try again eventually!

Thanks for your reply :) Yeah I think we might just be overthinking it, I'm sure we'll start appreciating the new look with time.

Coming up with our own UI look is probably what we'd do if we were to start over, but the iOS inspiration is too much ingrained in Bonjourr's DNA to get rid of it by now

Awesome, thank you!

Are you able to send us your exported settings file (bonjourr.app@protonmail.com)? I don’t think we’ll be able to get your data back unfortunately, but it might give us some clues as to why it happened in your particular case.

This sucks, I’m sorry. This has been a recurring issue of ours for a few versions now since we made some major changes in how we store data. We took measures to make things better, but we haven’t fully cracked the problem yet.

Are you talking about 21.2? Or the update from a few weeks ago?
September 3, 2025 at 1:14 PM
Exactly yeah. And by definition, AI images are (and feel) soulless. This isn't really a vibe we enjoy or want to be associated with

This is actually a bug with the 21.1 version! We'll be issuing a fix in the next few days with 21.2. Thanks for reporting it

To be clear, although we're not really comfortable with it for now, we aren't entirely opposed to having LLM-based features in Bonjourr (never say never). We think in the right situation, they can be great tools.

It would have to make sense though, and not be "in your face" the way it usually is.

But while trying to fix the bugs, we found even more bugs that we struggled to fix. Life also got in the way for the both of us, and we haven't had much time to dedicate to Bonjourr these past few weeks. We didn't expect it to take so much time but we'll get there eventually, sorry for all of that!

Hi Matt! Thanks for the love 😊 So it's a bit complicated, 21 is already out on Firefox and Edge, and its release led to some major bugs to be discovered. We decided to delay the release to other browsers because fixing the bugs first seemed the best thing to do, as some user data was lost...

Been fixing a lot of bugs these past few days. We're also looking into improving our error handling (mainly the page you see when Bonjourr crashes), so that people don't lose their settings as often and are better guided through troubleshooting. 😊
