Hey #genealogy I’m curious what place you’ve been deep into research lately. I’ve been spending a lot of research hours looking at the border area of Martin and Beaufort counties in North Carolina.

I'm a little torn tonight on first goal. I'm feeling Lehkonen or Colton... Since RosCo got the last one, I'm gonna go with Lehky! #GoAvsGo #AvsPsychic

Who else knows those “they built a tunnel under this town” stories? Heard it from #Colorado towns: Salida, Canon City, Longmont, Cheyenne Wells; but also Janesville, #Iowa. It seems like we should have found a lot more tunnels while building things. #history

Spent the last couple of days treading through Welsh newspapers (ty @genealcymru.bsky.social!) and have found #ChatGPT to be invaluable for transcribing, translating, summarizing, and sometimes explaining these articles. Best part is it remembers them and can give me tips on everything. #genealogy

Soapmaking. It might not have always been considered a “craft” as it was just another thing that had to be done for my great grandmother, her mother and her grandmother (who ran a little laundry shop from her home). Today I do it as a craft and hobby business, and I learned it from my mom.
#FamilyHistory #genealogy Oh, mom, why did you teach me how to knit but not how to crochet? 😭

What crafty things run in your family? My mom also did needlepoint. My grandmother and great-aunt did piecework.
1 down 5 to go…meow! Crochet stocking fillers in progress. #Crochet

How am I spending my long weekend? So glad you asked. I recently got a UNAS Pro and filled it with 66TB of capacity to back up all my files and photos, but specifically my #genealogy files. 3-2-1 Backup strategy helps me (a little) from staying up at night worrying about losing everything.

Been seeing a lot about troubles with inconsistent birthdays in #genealogy. When I tried tracking down my great uncle's actual birthday, I learned a lot more than I bargained for. Like how he spent time in San Quentin State Prison! I wrote about it here: www.kindredsnapshots.com/blog/edwin-c...
Edwin Carr - What's my age again? - CARR | Coleman
I wonder if my great-granduncle Edwin Carr was the sort of person who had trouble with dates his whole life. I started writing the post to commemorate his death which was January 7, 1970. At least,...

Introduce yourself with your worst feedback from school:

"Shannon needs to consider her audience. Most of what she presents is not appropriate. Detailing 16th century noblewoman's torture techniques is not appropriate for high school students."

- H.S. speech teacher after educational presentation
"John's brain is like a skewed halogen automobile lamp: Perfectly efficient for the purposes of its design, it does the driver little good illuminating the trees by the side of the road"

Hi, I'm Keith, and I know it's been a long semester and I've worked really hard so this one'll slide, but if I EVER hand in something like this again...

@divorcehistory.bsky.social so glad to have found you here! #divorce #history has been stealing the show in my #genealogy research lately. This date is out of your scope, but I have an 1839 case in my #familyhistory. Also been researching a scandalous public case involving a late 1800's senator.

While everyone else is talking about the Tyson vs. Paul fight, I'd rather share this circa 1920's photo of my great grandfather William Oaks Coleman play fighting his uncle, James Reed Coleman. He loved "prize fighting" so much he names his first 5 sons after champion boxers. Not the 6th though.
