Today, I asked 2nd year students which of these two 8-bit strings is "more random": 00000000 or 01101000? Not everyone answered, but everyone who answered said that 01101000 is more random. We are off to a good start :-)

So... we are contemplating switching from Java to Python for intro programming classes at my college. I like both languages fine. I worry that with Python students may not appreciate practicalities and nuances such as fixed-length arrays. Thoughts?

I had high hopes of converting this 19th-century steamer trunk into a bookshelf or something like that. Never got time for this project but perhaps someone else may. Local-pickup in Chicago (North Park).

The third one we are losing in Chicago in 2023. Empirical and Rock Bottom closed earlier this year. Metropolitan had a fantastic location, and it will be missed.
