When I see someone flying a big flag, I don't see a patriot. I see someone hiding their shame behind a flag that represents the principles they are betraying. The bigger the flag, the greater the shame.

It's early still and I'm hoping the Congress and the courts keep this democracy together, but we should be mentally preparing ourselves for a "by any means necessary moment."

I was a huge proponent of "whole class reading." We read this book together in a sixth grade class for about fifteen years. Every year I discovered some new perspective that I had missed before. The old man, Timothy, is patient, loving and wise. One of my favorite literary characters OF ALL TIME!
