On a more headcanon note, I think Mrs. Afton was the temporary C.E.O since she would be the only other adult who could be given the position with both Henry and her husband out of the picture, and due to being the wife of William Afton himself she would have a say in managing the company's direction

I like the temporary CEO option as it gives an explanation as to how Henry can come back to Faz Ent to dissolve it during Pizza Sim, since with his return, the temporary CEO could've possibly been relieved of duty, and allowed Henry to manage both his grief and kickstart his plan to set the trap.

I think it's generally assumed, but I also think we're missing a key detail here, both the FNAF 1 final Newspaper and the FNAF 2 Night 6 Newspaper share a quote from an unnamed C.E.O, which could either mean Henry is obscuring himself for no reason, or Fazbear hired a temporary CEO to help out
