Edinburgh-based software developer, though I'd rather talk about books and photography.
I like the sentiment but there are exceptions. For one of my favourite authors, their best works are when they’ve been reigned in from their wildest indulgences. Editors make a big contribution too!

I was surprised seeing a number of similar short stories over the years before I finally read Omelas and realised a few of people had walked away and taken the premise with them.

I think genre is often best defined by Wittgenstein “family resemblance”, where there doesn’t need to be any single shared characteristic.

I like that approach as it means new members redefine the category over time, without that needing to be contentious.

I was already put off by the fact that the candidate being local was the only thing they had to say on their leaflets and at the door. Hopefully this time they spare the paper.

Yes, their campaigning was relentless with leaflets that basically just said “local candidate” over and over. Does make me wonder what they’re going to put on their leaflets now.

What did you think? This is one of my favourites in the book — like a lasagne with aubergine in place of pasta!

I've just ordered the pack from Crankhouse Coffee. Which roaster did you go with?

Oh wow, definitely getting an order in for this.

I might order from Crankhouse Coffee, I’ve enjoyed their beans before and they’re doing bigger bags, so I’ll have a better chance to dial them in!

Oh no. The recycling bin is still full from the last lot of leaflets!

Very much the black nothing for me, though I have aphantasia. There’s research that links lack of visual mental imagery to limited autobiographical memory.
