So the point is, he'll start a war to prevent elections wether it's legal or not, then postpone elections, then drag it out in the courts, then ignore the courts, and the Republican party is unlikely to state with him, because they didn't want elections either. At that point what recourse do we have

Also, I'm pretty sure he doesn't understand international law either, so he likely thinks that he can do whatever Zelensky , or Putin, or any other country's leader can do, and isn't capable of understanding that they have different laws than we do.

Not long after this he started antagonizing Venezuela. He's neither a smart, nor well educated man. We see evidence of his lack of knowledge and understanding of both our constitution and our legal system on a daily basis, and we know for a fact that he doesn't care if what he does is legal.

“During the war, you can't have elections? So let me just see, three and a half years from now, if we happen to be in a war with somebody, no more elections? That's good," Mr. Trump says

I don't disagree with you at all. I'm simply pointing out that when Trump found out that Ukraine suspends elections during war time, he states the following (cspan August 18, 2025)...

He's not just after oil. Hesy very concerned with the safety of our nation... Concerned that if he doesn't start a war and use it as an excuse to prevent the next election, then we'll be able to vote for someone that will prosecute him, this making our nation safer.

Sadly, her fears were legitimate. The right would certainly try to do the same again, she was in a tough situation. What the Republicans did to Obama's pick shouldn't be legal. That's what led to all of this ignoring the Constitution.

The last 50 years. So, that means that... Abortion - legal (50 years) open carry without a permit - illegal (50 years) Do you see what the precedents are between the two?

However, if you want to bring abortion into this, it still doesn't help your argument. You see, Roe v Wade happened in 1973. That's over 50 years ago. So abortion has been legal for the last 50 years. At the same time, carrying a concealed firearm without a permit has been illegal for

I've noticed that you have tried to misrepresent what people say multiple times in this thread. Maybe you should take a minute to come up with some valid ideas instead of being lazy and trying to twist people's words. Clearly you're are not qualified to discuss this.

Nice try. That's not what I said, I said that there's 100 years of precedent suggesting that, in your words, "requiring a permit for you to exercise a right makes all rights fair game to be privileges" is not a true statement. Since we haven't seen the same things happen to all rights.

It wasn't until 1976 that the legislature passed the conceal carry law, making it legal for people to carry firearms with a permit. So we have 100 years of data disproving that theory. That being said, you should always be concerned for the unintended consequences of creating new laws.

Wow, things got spicy while I was gone. Let's turn it down a notch and keep it a conversation not a fight. This particular argument doesn't really work I'm afraid. You need to keep in mind that, in Georgia for instance, carrying a firearm was completely illegal since 1870.
