more of a first draft than anything tbh but nobody here is ever going to read my poetry so i can literally post whatever. and i will. i will post whatever.
be the tiger! have you forgotten how? but they have not declawed you, they have not pulled your teeth and (though the cage's bars cast shadows) they can't cover up your stripes. have you forgotten? and let yourself be loved despite too much (the claws, the maw, the windswept coat) and not because enough (the bite, the fight, the will to stay) have you forgotten? that the grass is always greener in the ménagerie and all the paint is hardly noticeable until you bite down. and you will bite down. have you forgotten? you don't get to be warm and dry. (you never needed to be.) you don't get to be happy. you get to be free. or have you forgotten?
