Self portrait in the heat shield of a 1992 McLaren F1 car.

Some days, museum collections are very cool indeed.

Cardiff has quite possibly the most dense concentration of artisan bakeries in Europe and I for one am *honoured* to live in such a city.

It usually looks something like this. The lower handle should be 10cm off the floor - not tucked behind a grab rail or tied up in mid air. If someone falls, they need to be able to reach it from the ground. If you see one hanging too high and you can, sort it. And tell a manager.

Made myself a new bookshelf and had an office re-set this week. Not bad for a 4ft x 6ft former coal shed.

Next on the list, more bookshelves, MOAR BOOKS.

Absolutely amazing artworks in neon by Chila Burman at IWM north - a suitable birthday art visit!

I am really gutted to hear The Lady Magazine has published its last issue this month. Access to the physical archive of The Lady was such a huge part of my PhD, and I would *love* to do more with that archive, but I have not been able to get hold of them over the last few years.

Once he woke up we began the lesson in how to fill up a watering can and use it. I now have a soaking wet toddler but we are one step closer to a useful allotment assistant!

I have the afternoon off looking after little man. He's spark out and I'm sat with a cuppa at the Allotment, watching our resident buzzard swoop about. A good afternoon indeed.

Wales being very Welsh this morning. Walked past the local barracks and saw Shenkin the Goat Major of the Royal Welsh on his morning constitutional.

Allotmenteering with a hot cuppa in my new flask. It's still all overgrown but a lot more tolerable with tea.

Bleak. But also tasty.

Time for this gem again. Long live the Mari Lwyd and her rap battles.

Waking up and leaving for work in the dark is much maligned this time of year, and with reason. But I have to confess that driving through the Welsh and English countryside of an autumnal morning is a treat.

And then I arrive on site to big skies like this almost every day.

*What* a garage. Jeremy Clarkson could never.

Packaging of museum collections is worthy of a collection of its own.

Less sure this needs to come back... Aspicure Aspic Jelly. What is "natural culinary essence"?!

Both of these need to make a comeback (no notes on package design either) - Cadbury Tiffin and Cadbury Top Deck
