Because I've been waiting over two decades for it, never thought it would happen and I would die with an inscription on my tombstone: "I never did get to see all of the Maiku Hama trilogy", it has to be the private detective Maiku Hama

First gut feel was 3. But 2 grows on you. It's distinct yet compact. So think I'm going with 2

And lovely to see pre-orders are already shipping! Just got my notification

Though it looks to be blocked. Damn. Yeah had to suggest the same thing to watch Our Neighbour, Miss Yae (bloody beautiful film so why no one has released it...)

Not sure I've seen that, and it's Anthony Mann? Looks like I should dig it out! Let alone add to the list

That always works for me. I remember this guy who used to question why I watched some 1930s Brit b-movie no-one had heard of. Why was I not watching the classics? Also sometimes films from nowhere hit you harder. Perfume of the Lady in Black no one talks about but a great film

You know what I think I may have seen it. I can see in my mind's eye the cover of the blu-ray. So many gialli sort of blur in my mind. Maybe I just watch too many films?

I cannot think of a gialli set in Ireland. Which one is it?

Pretty much booked my ticket the moment they became available. It's a great double bill and a great venue, A Snake of June is one of my favourite films and never seen it on the big screen so really stoked for this.

How did I not have copies of Fish Story or Shadow Of Fire, even though I've seen both? Oh well, remedied now.

I may only have been writing on the site for a few years but been visiting it for much longer so I remember a lot of those old views of the site. Still impressed you're still standing after 30-years, and sane.

Just finished watching The Demon of Mount Oe and surprised by how excellent it is, a film that gains in nuance as its story unfolds and is always grounded in its characters and their stories. I was not expecting the ending it provided but is compelling and utterly fitting.

Got my tickets. Female Prisoner Scorpion Jailhouse 41 yesterday ; Maiku Hama double today. Life is good.

Be great when the blu-ray is out so that I can fully take the film in. It was a frustrating experience as even the introduction to the film was barely given time, was drowned out by people still coming in and so I heard about every third word. Hey-ho.

Is a good quality subtitled print of Our Neighbour, Miss Yae available anywhere, do you know? Caught it at the BFI Japan series a few years back and thought it was lovely.

Sounds like my reaction, the second viewing it properly sinks in

Was lucky to see this at the cinema last year just ahead of the blu-ray release, and definitely pushed at the boundaries of what a pink film can be

Any confirmation on the possible Nickel London showing? Though good for the lucky folk in Derby!

Race with the Devil, a film last I saw on the Moviedrome and was surprised wasn't at the BFI season - still remember Alex Cox's intro, describing it as having been directed with skill of a poor TV movie, but nevertheless still fascinating.

So the obvious follow-up question now that we have had a day to coolly fully absorb the announcement: any chance any more of Hayashi's films could get a 4K restoration and a release? (Appreciating To Sleep so as to Dream is already done and available.)

Just look at that Maiku Hama goodness, already spotted this up and pre-ordered. A total no brainer.
