A big ole slut for: Star Wars/Marvel/Fire Emblem/Fate/MHA and both Poké and Digi-mons

Music addict. Current obsessions: LiSA/Babymonster/Mourner/Scandal
I had a big missing Japan feelings day today, so I did the only thing I could think off, cranked up the J-Pop and went to 7 11

Galaxy stage again for day three. Glad they made a separate queue for it now, rather than trying to get across the whole convention.

What I saw immediately after walking into celebration today

The queue for this getting crazy!

Anyone in Tokyo for Celebration and likes Anime should definitely take a train to Ōizumi-gakuen Station to check out the area and the Toei studios, it'sa bit of a trip and prtty small but a great piece of anime history and some of the friendliest staff I've encountered.

Seeing #Babymonster in Yokohama was amazing!

Having a hyperfixation on Oda Nobunaga and a fear of heights is not a great combination

Finally getting to see a J-pop act live!
The hype is real!

Japan is instantly cooler than anywhere else.

Being fancy in the Qantas lounge before my Japan flight. Not sure if it's helping my anxiety or making it worse haha.

Granted I've not been to a lot of concerts, but it's so cool to see LiSA take the time to spotlight every member of her band multiple times throughout the show, it's not something I've seen from other "Solo acts".

Her stage has these very Star Warsy TIE fighter wing like panels that light up. I'm probably reaching but if she ends up being at or even just near Celebration I'll probably die.

I've become so much of a LiSA simp I ordered the blu ray of LiVE is Smile always~Lander~ from Japan and I can't think of a better way to end the year then throwing it on!
December 31, 2024 at 11:27 AM
Unfortunately their newest song TRUTH was a too recent release to make it into the top list this year, but it's another banger that I won't be surprised when it makes next year's list.

If you haven't checked out Mourner I really hope you do.

First off is the man, the myth, the legend @mattymourner.bsky.social s band Mourner.

OUT TO GET YOU coming in as my number 8 but being a bit of a outlier in the group is a testament to how sick the song is. Right from the start it hits you with a killer intro and just doesn't let up.

Some of my favourites are their debut song A RA SHI a pretty typical late 90s/early 2000s pop song with some sick instrumentals and Sakura Sake a later song with a sweet melody.

Early in the year I watched their docu-series on Netflix "Arashi's Diary Voyage" which documents the lead up too and then eventual retirement of the band in 2021. It was a great watch and they have a long list of bangers form their 20+ year run.

Another artist I didn't expect to be in the top 5, ARASHI. A boy band from Japan that most people in the west have never heard of despite their longevity and popularity. Hell I only discovered them in the last couple of years.

A rich and beautiful story on every level and its music was no exception. Very inspired by Howard Shores LOTR soundtrack the two main adjectives I can think of for it are "cosy" and "Hobbitcore" which made it exceptional material to play on nights when i struggle to fall asleep.

I have to admit, I never would have thought of Evan Call as my number 2 for the year, but it makes sense.
I absolutely adored the show "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" an high fantasy adventure following what happens to the hero's after they save the world.

I don't need to keep going on about how much I love LiSA but while I don't remember who said it, it's always stuck with me when on @anytimeonair.bsky.social Ken or Alden said we all have one "pop girlie" we're a little too obsessed with and they were God damn right!
