Stats on #bodybrain #neuroskyence data can become non-trivial pretty quickly: Anything beyond t-tests on 'systole vs diastole' or 'insp vs exp' will include some form of phase binning, so we need adequate surrogates for robust permutation stats. Plus, these are not available for circular data.

Preprint time :)
In this one, led by @asanchezcorzo.bsky.social, we describe respiratory coupling to excitability states across the wake-sleep cycle. If only we could always have hours and hours of data... Great first collab with the lab of @tschreiner.bsky.social at LMU! #Neuroskyence 🧠🟦

Great experience to have visited #waves24 with the entire lab. Looking forward to the next edition, lots of ideas of how to keep oneself busy in the meantime.
An incredibly intense week of science at Waves '24 is all wrapped up. Grateful for everyone who came out to engage, invest, and communicate - wonderful to see all the discussions and new ideas floating around. Plus, never hurts to be in the lovely city of Salerno. Until next time!

Our lab handbook v1.0 is finally done!
What a great experience to have written our lab handbook - if you're curious what we do and how we (aim to) do things, or consider applying for a position, this is the place to look! 🧠📈

All thanks to @martinasaltafossi.bsky.social and Teresa Berther as well as @elife.bsky.social for the initiative.

Incredibly proud and happy to work on all things body-brain coupling with superstars @martinasaltafossi.bsky.social and Teresa Berther. So much fun, so many cool projects coming up. Could not have asked for more amazing people to start a lab around.

We are currently writing up our lab handbook, which will eventually be made public. As a new PI, I can't stress enough how helpful it is to reflect on who you are as a lab, how you integrate new people, and what you aim for in day-to-day lab life.
Thanks to @elife.bsky.social for the inspiration!
Research Culture: Why every lab needs a handbook
By explaining how a lab works, outlining what is expected of everyone, and describing the culture the lab is aiming for, a good lab handbook will benefit all the members of a research group.
