i love this! so much fun. mostly i hear the straight four the bass is playing and then all sorts of cool accents happening around it. no idea what you would call it :)

in the jones song, for example, i hear the bdb literally in the opening bars of the drums, and then it's implicit throughout the rest of the song even when the drums aren't exactly holding to it

i have a fairly wide/generous allowance for what constitutes a bo diddley beat. i'll count pretty much anything in pop (and beyond) based on a three-two clave rhythm. it doesn't require the practitioners to have heard of bo diddley. it requires them only to be touched by the same rhythmic spirit...
