My joke was more in line with “try to make your own” but that xkcd was the first one to pop into my head. I can relate though, given that the current “best” way to turn some HTML and CSS into a PDF in PHP is “just use headless Chrome”

We use Buddy (buddy.works) at work, can be self-hosted, but we just use their platform

It's especially bad as a justification of your intent is to make it accepted. It'll just make you and your whole pipeline look sloppy (more than the inherent inclusion of slop) if you keep including "placeholders".
