I'd love it if there was a Leith-Stavanger route.

He’s now behind the TV pulling cables out of the receiver box and meowing his head off, either looking for Attenborough, or hyenas.

Wonderful. Behind where you are standing looks like valuable agricultural land for food production. So, I guess we will have a bit less to eat, but that's all OK as long as there will be power to feed all these hungry AI data centers.🤦

Agreed. The modern take on a Viking longhouse episode was my fav build in this GD series, not least for its stirring emotional context.

My partner and I were discussing replacing our fridge recently. In the days immediately after, I began to notice an unusual number of ads for white goods promoted across my accounts without even having searched for them. We concluded either Alexa or Siri had been eavesdropping on us. Creepy.

My wife insisted we marry on my birthday so I would have less chance of forgetting our anniversary ;)

Yeah, I get odd looks when I try to describe it to others. I've had it all my life, but only discovered the condition had a name about 15 years ago. I'm trying to determine if it's common among other neurodiverse creatives.

Mine workers were only paid for the ore they extracted. They had to pay for all their own equipment and tools. There were no health and safety provisions, and little to no compensation if you got sick or injured in accidents. And we think our lives are tough?

Throughout this project, I kept thinking of the workers (often children) whose periodic task was to scrape off the lead and silver deposits from inside the horizontal flues that ran up the hillside. They'd develop pneumoconiosis, a condition known as the 'black spit'. Must've been horrendous.

Industrial reconstructions terrify me for other reasons - mostly the sites where the knowledge, methods and processes have been forgotten. Knowing where to look and who to ask to find records and written accounts describing these processes is so difficult and time-consuming.

About five weeks of modelling and artworking, and roughly the same time spent researching and studying books. I had to learn all about the lead smelting process from start to finish, and work with an archaeologist to identify the locations of the various sheds using the positions of the ore hearths.

I hope there will be castles. And churches.

Shout out to the lovely folks at www.castlehousemuseum.org.uk in Dunoon who went out of their way to help me with some of my research today. Their fabulous collection of Clyde paddlesteamer ship models distracted me for quite a while! 😎
