I write music and mess around with synths. Occasionally I cover songs and music from video games.

Been working on and getting burned out from working on an album since 2021.

I’ll probably also share songs I like and some of my record collection.
Of all the 70’s Beach Boys projects, Dennis Wilson’s Pacific Ocean Blue may be the most surprising.

I’m not exaggerating when I say this album deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as the classic 70’s albums.

Under Wraps is definitely where Tull seem to start dropping off a bit. We’ve now got the leftover tracks from Broadsword and The Beast, which would have made a much better album. It still has a few really solid tracks like European Legacy that make it worth it.

I think Skeleta is the most instantly likable Ghost album since Meliora. I grew to really enjoy the last two, but it took a while..

I highly recommend this album to anybody who enjoys 80’s hard rock

Saw #Ghost at the O2 last night.

Incredible show, really well put together production and the band were top rate.

The no phones thing was a really positive experience, I can’t tell you how nice it was to experience the concert without having somebody recording it all in your eyeline.

No. 1 In Heaven was a huge departure in sound for Sparks. The guitars and pianos of their earlier music were out and synthesisers and vocoders courtesy of Giorgio Moroder were in

I think this album still sounds cool and interesting 46 years later.

Dragonforce were one of those bands who seemed to be huge in the 00’s with Through The Fire And The Flames and then kind of disappeared from my mind. Last year I heard them doing a Legend of Zelda inspired song that made me grab their new album.

A lot of people know Rainbow for the Rising LP or their later post Dio hits like Since You’ve Been Gone or All Night Long. Long Live Rock ‘n’ Roll, the album between these two eras, seems to fall through the cracks a little bit.

It took a while for Heavy Horses to click with me even though I loved the title track from the first listen, but after sticking with it a while I fell in love with it and was encouraged to jump feet first into the rest of Tull’s discography.

I’ve had this album in my collection for years, finally listening to it and it’s great. Although intended as a bit of a parody of concept albums and the like, it works really well and as typical with Tull, the musicianship is top rate.

Saw somewhere recently that Kate Bush is planning on making some new music.

Aren’t we going through enough?!

Come across these little mics recently that were stupidly cheap, so had to grab a matched pair to try out.

Only one of the guitar mics is plugged in as I’m waiting on a four channel interface to arrive, but they sound great and gave me an excuse to try out one of my favourite #JethroTull songs.

Impera is probably the most polished Ghost album so far. Much like Prequelle it took me a few listens to really get, but once I did it became an album I really enjoyed.

Hunter’s Moon is maybe my favourite song by them so far.

Between falling in love with their new song today and getting hyped for seeing them next week, I’m in a Ghost mood today.

I didn’t love this album when it came out, it was a huge departure from Meliora, the album before this, but I’ve grown to love it.

Five Miles Out is the start of Mike Oldfield getting into songwriting more than longer instrumentals.

My favourite is the title track which is an unusual song inspired by him learning how to become a pilot and the trauma from when a plane he was flying in nearly crashed.

This is another one of those albums I didn’t really like but felt I needed to stick with. Played it again tonight and it really clicked with me. Maybe my music taste is turning a corner..

I got this album about 8 years ago in a job lot of records. It done absolutely nothing for me but for some reason I felt like I shouldn’t get rid of it.

Decided to give it another go tonight and am absolutely blown away by it.

Rain Dogs by Tom Waits is a weird album sonically, a bit of old blues, a bit of New Orleans jazz and a bit of Americana. Totally unlike much else released in 1985.

Hippopotamus was the first new Sparks album in nearly 10 years. To me this album is a comeback of monumental proportions that showed older bands don’t have to rely on their legacy and can still make interesting and exciting music.

In my opinion Switched on Bach by Wendy Carlos is one of the most important albums of all time. It turned the synthesiser from a funny noise machine to something that could play serious music.

I’d be remiss to not also credit Wendy as a trans icon too.

I bought this years ago because of the cover, my logic being that no album with that cover was going to be boring. It wasn’t what I was expecting, but the fusion of classical, rock and electronic styles was something I found instantly fascinating.

Devo’s Are We Not Men is one of those albums I found years ago.. I think a bit of Jocko Homo was covered in one of Weird Al’s polka medleys.. maybe an unusual way of discovering an unusual band, but I’m glad I did as they have some excellent stuff.

OMD’s Architecture and Morality is a great album, I love when a band goes in a different direction to their usual style. Here it’s with The New Stone Age which is noisy, shouty and discordant. The total antithesis to their usual melodic sound and it makes the album for me.

After Van Dyke Parks’ debut album, 1968’s Song Cycle which contained meticulously orchestrated psychedelic pop masterpieces, was Discover America in 1972. The theme of this album is covers of Calypso music from the early 20th century.

I’ve been a fan of The Cat Empire since 2013’s Steal The Light. I love the Latin and ska influences in their music.

This album feels like it’s been a long time coming, but this it’s come out at the right time; winter is passing and this music feels warm.
