sustainable mixed media art, thoughts that pop into my head, stuff I’ve thrifted, what I’m eating, books I’m reading, shows I’m streaming.
The point of The Traitors is for the traitors (plural) to deceive the faithfuls. Not for one traitor to systematically take down the other traitors leveraging inside information only a traitor would know. That’s just a con job. It’s unsportsmanlike and not fun to watch.

I really gravitated to this yellow oxide Liquitex color when working on these gel prints. The shapes and sizes are all different because I printed on post-consumer cardboard. Most are photos from my camera roll except the geometric line art print, which is based on a painting of mine.

Anybody watching Bookish on PBS Masterpiece? I’m completely hooked after finishing episode 4. I like where this is going.

If your brand supports politicians that want everybody in the U.S. to speak only in English, your brand should be barred from running Spanish-language ads in U.S. markets. Those dollars should go to brands that support the communities they stand to profit from.

Made taco-style chicken chili for lunch today. I used ground chicken, red kidney beans, fresh tomatoes, jalapeño, green onion, salsa verde and taco seasoning. I topped it with all that I could salvage from a very ripe avocado.

The Reverend Dan Groody believes that the issues facing migrants need to be addressed by theology. “I knew instinctively, as a pastor, that something of God was interwoven in their stories,” he told Jay Caspian Kang. newyorkermag.visitlink.me/hcGDNJ

I sewed this quilt using fabric I cut from a pile of shirts and the wrong side of a Ralph Lauren bedding fabric. I chose a wavy freehand quilt pattern and used Marrakech thread to pull in the bright colors of the plaid squares. The rest of the quilt top is made with different shades of denim.

You weren’t born with your beliefs. You created your belief system over time based on your experiences and your biases. To change your beliefs, you need to challenge your assumptions. That’s the only way to evolve past the limitations of your upbringing and develop your own values.

I had half a bartlett pear in the fridge today and decided to slice it really thin and simmered with some seasonings for a light dessert with whipped cream. It tasted so good I’m thinking I may try making a pear tart soon. Or maybe even something savory with a pear chutney base.

These episodes of The Traitors are way too long. Just give me a tl:dr after the challenges and make some of the round table votes a surprise instead of drawing them out for 20 minutes at the end of a 70 minute episode.

Got this baked brie at Trader Joe’s and decided to make it my dinner with some honey and sliced pear.

I drew this abstract profile portrait this morning with soft pastel and charcoal on a screen-printed grocery bag. If I weren’t using sustainable mixed media techniques, I’m not sure I would ever come up with it. I’m not even sure I like it. But I like the randomness of it.

What significant changes have you noticed on TikTok this week? The big one for me is that my ‘Find Friends’ suggestions are all now politicians, media outlets, commercial brands, and blue check mark accounts rather than small creators.

I wish I remembered exactly how I made this chicken pasta because it’s my new favorite. I think the sun-dried tomatoes, goat cheese, and dash of dijon mustard took it to the next level.

Can we all agree that it’s not cool to put the last person voted off of The Traitors on your YouTube thumbnail? I’ve had every episode this season spoiled just by existing online.

Has the narration of an audiobook ever changed your opinion of the book? For me, Maggie Gyllenhaal’s narration of Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina made me fall in love with the book in a way I’m not sure I would have if I were reading it on my own.

Evil must constantly re-spawn, while good, while virtue, is immortal. Vice has always a new fresh young face. While virtue is venerable as nothing else in the world is. - John Steinbeck, East of Eden 💙📚

I had some leftover fennel and potatoes after making a roast chicken a few days ago. I decided to use them as the base for an Italian white bean soup I made for lunch today. I added pancetta, kale, lemon, and fresh tomatoes. And of course, a crusty piece of baguette.

Just drew a portrait on a scrap that already had some paint and doodles on it. I let the previous markings help shape the figure since I was drawing without a reference.

Watching You’ve Got Mail on Tubi and the AOL sign on montage just took me back to the y2k days, when you had to connect to your home phone line to go on the internet using software that came on a CD delivered with your newspaper.
