An accurate analogy, but...
An accurate analogy for sure. Though as a former hockey ref and high school civics class debate moderator, I would have liked to have seen a few more penalties called. I realize the norm for politicians is to avoid factual discussion and maximize their own rhetoric, but that's why debates have a moderator to begin with. Refs don't get paid to just drop the puck and run the clock. When someone is asked a question, they should be allowed to answer without interruption. Last night's debate did not ensure that at any point. You needed to take control of the game. Mute those that talk over top of other candidates or take the time they stole from others off their next opportunity yo speak. The public doesn't just want to hear accusations disguised as questions or watch a two hour checklist of slogans and rhetoric aimed at self promotion.They want and deserve to hear how the potential leaders of our country respond to issues vital to our success and sovereignty for the future. There are many vital questions that need to be answered. The next time you "take the ice to referee".... please bring a whistle and ensure the public gets more answers instead of shots just thrown at the net!
