A guy that failed to buy a Formula E team is not buying Tottenham Hotspur

The team was forced into a precarious position last month when a deal for it to be purchased fell through. Maserati MSG subsequently moved into the hands of Formula E, which has the right to recall the ownership licence if a team fails to meet certain financial obligations. The Race revealed last week that would-be buyer Brooklyn Earick would not be taking the team over after some commitments around the deal are believed to have not been met. This was despite Earick effectively being announced as its new chairman and CEO in Jeddah via a combination of the TV coverage and posts on his own social media channels. Those posts have subsequently been deleted. The collapse of the proposed deal has placed the future of the team in doubt as fresh investors are quickly being sought to at least stabilise it.

SHELBOURNE MANAGER DAMIEN Duff has written a letter to all staff at the FAI to apologise for saying he would sack 90% of them. Speaking on Wednesday morning ahead of Shels’ European tie with St Joseph’s of Gibraltar, Duff was asked if Irish football needed a reset, in the context of the historical abuse allegations published by RTE and the Sunday Independent. Duff responded by saying he would raze the FAI offices in Abbotstown to the ground, recalling his stint working as a coach with Stephen Kenny. “I would raze Abbotstown to the ground because it’s the most uninviting unenthusiastic workplace not in world football but in the world,” said Duff. “I used to dread going in there once a month . So I’d level it and I would probably sack 90 per cent of the workforce.”

When Marinakis announced the appointment of Edu, formerly Arsenal’s sporting director, as Forest’s new transfer guru, he was entitled to think of it as a significant coup for a club their size. Just check out the wording of the official announcement. Forest were “proud” to confirm Edu’s arrival, read the club’s statement — not just pleased, or delighted, but proud. Unfortunately for Forest, one man was not quite so enamoured: Nuno Espirito Santo, the manager who has led Forest back into Europe for the first time in 30 years and, unreported until now, has had a spectacular fallout with Edu behind the scenes. Nuno’s relationship with Edu started badly and, since then, it has deteriorated to the point where there is an acceptance at the City Ground that the damage is potentially irreparable. Edu arrived with Kia Joorabchian, the influential businessman and football advisor, as his close ally. The manager has made his feelings clear, particularly about Edu, both to the man himself and others at the club. It is personal, deeply personal, between himself and Edu and perhaps the most worrying aspect for Forest fans is that, as things stand, it is difficult to see the two men making up. Of the two, Nuno has largely been the aggressor, outspoken in the extreme. Edu has been staying away from the club’s training ground.

Can't even get a kit launch over the line
With discontent among the fanbase justifiably growing, it is a huge few days ahead at Spurs. That frustration among supporters led to a very low-key launch of the club's third kit this week. The decision was made not to push the kit out on social media as would ordinarily be the case due to an acceptance of the current mood surrounding the club. It was expected that the response to posts would be overwhelmingly negative, and there will instead potentially be more publicity around it once the transfer window closes.
