I’m family friends with some core PC turned UCP insiders. They are not separatists, and swear that the premier isn’t either. I genuinely believe them, but think the fear of breaking the party apart is real. So they’re going to do the Brexit route and hope it fails.

We'll not the entire federal government, just the federal government when it's a Liberal government. They wouldn't be booing her if she were talking about an agreement with Poilievre.

I know not everyone is a coffee drinker, but I've always appreciated client gifts of branded coffee beans in the couple times I've received. People are often home more during xmas and drinking more coffee than they normally do at home.

I was supposed to have a call with mine at the start of the strike, but it never happened.

Sounds like my MLA in Calgary-Lougheed. I do expect a number of my neighbours are happy with the job he does though.

Honestly I’m more surprised that JD Vance is on Bluesky.

We had one of those at our wedding. At least two kids ate so much candy they puked.

I think this is it. Starve out the teachers, push more families to private, charter or homeschooling and destroy the will to fight.

Upon further research, Alberta day is Sept 1, as it became a province Sept 1 1905. This year it is observed Aug 31 because Labour Day falls on Sept 1.

Been a while since I read it, but I can think of at least three sex scenes in it. I don't remember them being terribly graphic but they're in there.

I think much of what we’re seeing stems from conservative anxiety of having a trans child. So anything they can do to ensure that child remains in the closet is good (in their mind).

Skinnier. He means people were skinnier.

I think you underestimate the conservative hold on rural Alberta. Calgary suburbs too. They could run a sack of potatoes in Calgary Lougheed and they’d get in.

Does a bicycle mechanic count? What if it's in a co-op?

I think the cultural piece is the point. To erode a cultural connection of Alberta as a part of Canada, with a goal of a future separation.

Yeah, that’s straight out of How To Lie With Charts.

Alberta just started a $15/day childcare program, dropping to $10/day in 2026. Not sure what the difference is between this and the federal program, but my daycare fees just dropped substantially for April.

Alberta introduces flat monthly child-care fee for consistency across province
In an attempt at consistency and transparency, the Alberta government says it will implement a flat monthly fee for full-time licenced child care, roughly equal to $15 per day.

Calgary here. Daycare fee went down from $725/mo after affordability grant to $350/mo. No additional fees, daycare provides breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack. We don’t qualify for subsidy.

I have a Broil King pellet (Canadian company, but made in China) on a wooden deck and like 12” from the railing for years without issue.
