This book by @willowcatelyn.bsky.social and @cadenmgardner.bsky.social is fantastic. Alongside discussion of direct representations of transness, there are also so many films here that I hadn't considered from that perspective - and tons of horror!

It doesn't even matter if this ends up being good or not, that it is coming out is a victory for the people, for the animators, for every human person involved in making this. It's also a win against corporate greed and willingness to bury art in the name of bogus tax write-offs. We won.

Is the hype about "Adolescence" justified? Stylistically and in regard to the quality of the acting, definitely yes, but in the way it explores the issues which it raises it is often too surface-level or misses the mark in its handling.
