Given the mess that this piece of the Shrewsbury Moves transport strategy has produced I hope that the whole thing is properly reviewed before any more is implemented. I support reducing through traffic in the Loop but believe that the statement that it could be implemented without the NWRR is wrong

Why doesn’t the mainstream media call this out for what it is? Treating people differently on the basis of race or ethnic origin is wrong!

If they make our lives easier and reduce the risk of fraud and stealing identities then I am in favour. The idea that liberty implies not being known to the state is long gone and we don’t care about surveillance cameras. I doubt whether they will make much difference to immigration.

I have written directly to the Post Office to question both the reasoning behind this decision and the way it was handled — with no consultation with local stakeholders or residents.

I will continue to press for clarity on this issue and to fight for the services our rural communities deserve.

That is true but by the time all this work is finished there will be a cycle lane in front of the station. So that sign will make sense. The cycle traffic lights in the photo will only be required when there is a two way cycle lane up Castle Gates which has not yet been agreed!

But it isn’t on a cycle lane! Currently traffic at that junction is one way in the opposite direction. Although a dedicated cycle lane is proposed it is not part of the current work on this junction.

This is in an existing suburb. Many Parkway stations in W. Midlands (e.g. Warwick, Worcestershire) were to allow drivers to access trains without driving into town centres. Shrewsbury lacks a properly integrated public transport centre and a road system that supports this as well as active travel.

They worked when we assumed that private cars were an essential need. With climate change we need to reduce car journeys and provide proper public transport networks with effective interchanges so that people can get about without cars!

This is an out-of-date solution, expecting people to drive cars to get on a train. Can someone please explain what additional benefit this station will provide compared to driving to Wellington or Telford if you want to avoid coming into Shrewsbury to catch a train?
