In my lab alone, 4 out of the 5 scientists are being "fired for cause". 5. Is it just probationary and under 1 year employees? No, colleagues who have been working for years are being let go because they were promoted recently into new positions. 6. I study how produce decays in the cold chain to prevent economic losses and quality deterioration. 3. A bit about my situation, similar to many new USDA employees; I started my job in July of 2024, spent my life savings canceling my lease, downsizing, and relocating to the other side of the country. At my pay grade (GS-9) no relocation reimbursement was offered.
