That's right. It's good to make the distinction because there's also a tiny bit of Old Arabic written in the Nabataean script (before it evolved into the later, normal Arabic script).

Interesting, what cognates are those? Could they have spread through contact? I don't think linguists are particularly opposed to engaging with archeology and genetics, though...
