There will be pie today!

Off to chase some #LiferPie in Kansas!

What’s up?
The aurora is up! I took a few pics from central Missouri

Less mysterious today. I need to find a clip to keep it closed

The Mystery of the Missing Suet.
The new block of suet is gone, yet the feeder is secure. Who could do such a thing and how?

(No doubt the Raccoon, last night with the nimble fingers)

Burrowing Owl from New Mexico

Too much doom scrolling today. Ugh.
In contrast, I looked for and found some LeConte’s Sparrows this morning in Missouri. (Probably) a Life Bird, I bought a pie to celebrate.

Eating some #LiferPie today after finding a Connecticut Warbler in Illinois!
I noticed quite a few sightings in the last two weeks so I knew it was possible, but not very likely. I got great views of a bird that is usually very hard to see well. No camera, so I just watched as long as it let me.

A problematical checklist I may not submit to eBird. The curlew was heard only and not recorded. I’m sure it won’t be confirmed by the reviewer, but I’m also sure of what I heard (which would be quite rare)

This goldfinch kept climbing the pole, then slowly sliding down.

Maybe. I got it for my dad and then got it back. I’ve never tested it, but it looks similar to what I saw at the Trinity site.

Only one more sleep until retirement!

Wilson’s Warbler are *abundant* during migration here. What we don’t get is 20 species of warblers in a day. 10 would be a great.
Not as much warbler-neck in the desert too.

I’d rather be Birding. Or just about anything other than painting, but I’m trying to be a good husband.

I woke up well before dawn (normal for work days) and remembered that Elf Owls arrive in late March, so I headed out to my go-to spot and had an owl grand slam. Western Screech-Owl was new to the spot, a species I missed last year.

A document was revised. Hmm, thinks I, I wonder what changed?
I was surprised, but I shouldn’t have been. SMH

Says my wife: “look at the moon!”
Says I, “that’s no moon, that’s the sun!”
Springtime in New Mexico.

After 45 years, I think my Calculus textbook has to go rather than move with me one more time.
I can’t say I have needed it once (since I didn’t pursue a higher degree)

Quote post with a picture you took from a National Park.

#NationalParkService America’s Best Idea.

Carlsbad Caverns National Park is more than an amazing hole in the ground. New Mexico.

AI ruins search results, example 386. You would have to stand on the stove to use the microwave, and even then it might be over your head. Assumes a high ceiling.

Not all of the bobcats at the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens State Park are in cages.
Cool to see, but devastating to the prairie dogs on exhibit.

It really is something else. Bonus: Owls really like to hang out in the roots
