I would say FFX has various other redeeming qualities while FFXIII... doesn't. To me it's not particularly about the uninspired map design, XIII was just not enjoyable in any aspect. Even the chapter of XIII that is suddenly open just made me go "huh? why is this now also not cohesive in design?"

I don't play Minecraft, but last I heard it's intentional incompatibility for monetization purposes. Bedrock has a marketplace, java has all the "mod it yourself" stuff. Microsoft probably would have preferred to kill the Java version, but that would have been even worse for many users.

The problem is that the ideal zone is a gray spot of extensibility, ease of use and development speed. Most discourse is either "unmaintainable monolith" or "enterprise fizzbuzz". I'd say the important thing is to make your "right way" a conscious choice that fits you, not some unachievable "best".

Yes please. I didn't expect to end up doing this much texture editing as a programmer. Sometimes I find a 64x65 texture in a project and wonder what the hell happened.

Hm? It's quite trivial and cheap to incorporate in the US and sell digital goods, I've done it as a single person. e.g. when you buy a digital Nintendo game you're not buying "an import", it's NoA selling it.

We'll have to look at the implementation, seems too early to predict anything.
